Amazon Aims for $5 Billion in Indian Export Sales This Year
Amazon anticipates that Indian exporters will generate $5 billion in sales of small items to markets such as the U.S. and U.K. this year, an increase from $3 billion in 2023. Through its Global Selling program, nearly 150,000 small exporters will connect with international customers, boosting Indian export data for 2024.
Bhupen Wakankar, Amazon's global trade director, stated they are investing in tools to help sellers improve visibility and sales. By the end of 2024, Amazon plans to support over $13 billion in total e-commerce export data from India, enhancing the country's import export data.
This move highlights India's growing role in global trade, as companies look to diversify from China. Amazon is also working with India's commerce ministry to connect small manufacturers offering products like textiles and Ayurveda items, which are easier to ship and less impacted by import taxes. This collaboration further strengthens Indian trade data by facilitating smooth export transactions.
Despite facing criticism for pricing practices, Amazon aims to boost its investments in India to $26 billion by 2030 and achieve $20 billion in export data by 2025, driving India's presence in global import export data markets.
